Frequently Asked Questions

In clinical practice, SNOT-22 should be administered at baseline and at follow-up visits to monitor treatment response. After medical therapy, reassessment at 4-6 weeks is common. After surgical intervention (FESS), reassessment at 3, 6, and 12 months post-operatively is standard. The minimal clinically important difference (MCID) is 8.9 points.
Both measure disability in vestibular disorders. DHI is a 25-item questionnaire covering functional, emotional, and physical domains (0-100). VADL is a 28-item scale specifically focused on activities of daily living. DHI is more widely used in clinical practice and has stronger psychometric validation with established MCID of 18 points.
Urgent ophthalmology referral is indicated for any patient with incomplete eye closure (House-Brackmann Grade ≥IV), exposure keratitis symptoms (eye pain, redness, foreign body sensation, photophobia), decreased visual acuity, or corneal ulcers. Incomplete eye closure can lead to corneal ulceration, scarring, and permanent vision loss if not properly managed. Early ophthalmology intervention (tarsorrhaphy, eyelid weight placement) prevents corneal complications.
